Redlegged frogs can hop five miles!
Imagine that and what challenges that might mean!
How lucky they found these ponds..and how smart!

These redlegged frogs in my home pond have been breeding here for over five years. These photos were taken  August 14, 2014.

Picture
Carmel River rocks covered with dried algae
The river bone dry.
Dessicated, Skin pulled taut.
Birds quiet.

Picture
A peace sign
created by an unknown artist
in the bed of the the Carmel River.
In honor of the river?
In honor of so many people around the world suffering?
The river providing even when the water is dried from the surface
to then resurface in our homes
and gardens. How selflessly it gives.

When we allow wildness, our own spirit, to flourish within, we can also respect and allow nature’s spirit, the wild outside, to exist.
